Young criminals …Young criminals.

There are more and more of them sitting in jail these days. And why is that? Is it because parents don’t teach their children the rights and wrongs from a young age? Is it peer pressure from friends or others? Is it the influence from video games or the media?

There is so many aspects as in why there are more and more young offenders. It is such a big topic that even I can’t cover the whole subject without writing a whole book about it.

Many people believe that the whole reason behind this matter is the fact that parents don’t teach their children rights and wrongs. They let their children hanging around the wrong crowd or they let their children watch inappropriate movies which contains a lot of violence or crimes from a young age and children gets influenced by the media so much that they think it’s alright to do what the movie stars do in movies, such as murder or theft. Some parents just don’t care what their children do, even when they get themselves warned by the police or get in trouble in school due to a fight, etc. Their parents just don’t teach them that it is wrong and they shouldn’t do stuff like that. Not all parents are like that. Especially parents who care a lot about their kids. They will care enough to not let their children go through those situations. That is just one aspect of the reasons.

Another aspect is peer pressure from friends or family or even both. Youths can be pressurized into doing crimes by their friends saying that it is cool to do this and do that, and if they don’t do it then they are not part of that group, etc. Some youths cannot help it that they get involved with crimes due to them being born into a mafia or gang family, therefore what their family believes in will become what the youth believes. Other times it could be influences from family that causes offenses done by the youths. That could be for example, the kid’s father that he or she idolizes gets sent to jail due to armed robbery.

There are so many young offenders being sent to jail, it’s appalling and sad to see. So many of these youths have plenty of great talents but they don’t use them because they haven’t been taught the discipline.

So many times I hear on the news, young people killing other youths, or arrested for possession of drugs, or using drugs or in act of selling drugs or for theft. These kind of crimes are beginning to fill in the main part of the news nowadays. And is taking over the main stories in the media.

For me, I think it’s disappointing to hear all that because a lot of people will soon instantly think that if there is any crimes, they will believe that it’s done by young offenders.

It’s sad to see. But there’s nothing we can do about it. I wish we can but we can’t.
