D1 Grand Prix 2009 Drift Series
The D1 Grand Prix USA (D1GP) Professional Drift series has posted their event schedule for 2009. They are making four stops this year in the United States. Here are the event listings and locations:
May 2, 2009: Anaheim, CA @ Anaheim Stadium
May 30, 2009: Miami, FL @ Dolphins Stadium
July 18, 2009: Philadelphia, PA @ Wachovia Center
August 1, 2009: Chicago, IL @ Soldier Field
If you do not know what the D1GP is, then let me fill you in. It is the highest professional level of drifting. The D1GP invites the top 10 drivers of Japan to participate in these events. The Japanese drivers will ship their cars from Japan and it will be in the possession of D1GP transporters. In addition to the Japanese drivers, professional American drivers are also invited to join the competition. According to D1GP’s main website, a number of events are going to be held. There will be a Remote Control Drift Expo, Pit Row, Main Stage, Interactive Gaming, Extreme Autofest Car Show, and Model Pavilion.
Driver Registration, Car Show Registration and Online Ticket sales will open on February 6, 2009. If you live anywhere near these locations and you are a fan of drifting, pick up a ticket! It will surely be worth it. I personally plan on attending the Chicago, Illinois, show.
