It sucks and we’re sorry (life without user32.dll)

A few days ago AVG (Anti-Virus Grisoft) released a virus signature file that detected a user32.dll as a trojan and offers the end users to either heal, delete, or move it to the virus vault.

What users may not be aware of is the fact that user32.dll is a key Windows file that plays a vital role for the Window’s graphical user interface.  In other words: if you remove the file (doesn’t matter how) from the Windows directory, the next time you start your computer, you’ll face the Blue Screen of Death and an infinite recursion in the booting cycle.

In a recent Yahoo article, it states that AVG is now offering free one-year subscription of AVG 8 service to all “affected” users of the problem as an apology gift.
