Artist of the Week: Tatum Jones

Asian-American singer/songwriters Hans Cho, Justin Fong, and Michael Lee got together in February of last year to form the R&B group “Tatum Jones.” This Los Angeles-based group was formerly known as the hip hop a cappella group “At Last” where they gained recognition as the finalists on the first season of “America’s Got Talent.” They’ve appeared on stage with groups like Boyz II Men, The Backstreet Boys, and artist Justin Timberlake.

At Last broke up in late 2006 and DJ Say decided to pursue a solo career. Because of their determination and love for making and performing music, the remaining three decided to form a new group and continue to pursue their goals in the entertainment industry. They are now putting forth their efforts into “The Love Movement,” their debut EP album.

They held their official album release party on March 8th in Los Angeles with their first single being “Who Is It” featuring Chan. Their second single from their CD was also written and produced by the boys with producer Peter “King” Hong entitled, “U Should Know.”

Writer’s Commentary:
I just have to mention that I love the sweet piano intro in “Who Is It.” Also, I’ve actually been wondering for a while about what happened to At Last, and it’s good to see that the boys are back with some new sounds. “U Should Know” has this soothing bossa nova feel to it. Their music, amongst other good things, blends in some old R&B beats with new, unique sounds. They aren’t too over the top, and they really have that nice mellow feel in their singing.
