How to Speed Up Vista’s Startup

Submitted by TrUaZn2005 on Tuesday, 24 June 2008One Comment

Are you running Vista? Do you have a multi-core processor (which means your processor is a dual-core, quad-core, or an 8-core if you have an insane motherboard)? Does Vista run like a turtle on startup when you hit the power button, making you want to give up on using it? Chances are it does, and if you have a multi-core processor you can speed this process up a bit.

Click the start button, type “msconfig” in the search bar, click boot, and then advanced options. Next change the number of proccesors to 2, 4, or 8 (if you are one of the insane speed freaks). When this has been changed, Vista will use all of the cores when booting versus using a single core to boot-up. If you have read this and answered yes to the questions above, get tweaking!
